Standards

Certifications & Standards

What we are audited against, and what we hold ourselves to beyond it.

  • ISO 9001:2015

    ISO 9001:2015

    Quality Management System

PentaPlus is an ISO 9001:2015 certified printing and packaging solutions provider. The certification covers the whole chain — enquiry, prepress, press, finishing and dispatch — not just the shop floor.

  • Kappa Quality Standards

    Kappa Quality Standards

    Six-sigma strategy

A six-sigma based strategy applied to print defects, so improvement is driven by measured variation rather than by complaint volume.

  • 5S Work Culture

    5S Work Culture

    Workplace organisation model

Sort, set in order, shine, standardise, sustain — the model the plant floor is organised around, and the reason a make-ready is repeatable across shifts.

  • Closed-Loop Colour Management

    Closed-Loop Colour Management

    GMG + X-Rite

Colour is measured continuously against the signed proof and corrected in the run, so the last sheet matches the first by number and not by eye.

Four gates

Where Quality Is Checked

Four gates, each with something measurable to pass.

  1. 01

    Goods-in

GSM, moisture, COBB, bursting and tearing strength verified per lot before the substrate is scheduled.

  2. 02

    Make-ready

Ink viscosity checked, ink keys set from the file, density brought onto the Star Proof target.

  3. 03

    In-run

Closed-loop colour correction and X-Rite spectrophotometry hold density from first sheet to last.

  4. 04

    Pre-dispatch

Laser-precision print inspection, then a 100% sort in the ISO sorting bay against the signed proof.

Instrumentation

The QC Lab

Nine instruments standing between a substrate and a scheduled job. Board is tested at goods-in, ink at make-ready, colour throughout the run.

  • GSM Tester

    Grammage per square metre

    GSM Tester

Measures grammage per square meter, which is an important factor in the paper and packaging industry. Board that arrives under-weight is caught at goods-in, not at the folder-gluer.

  • Bursting Strength Tester

    Burst resistance of board

    Bursting Strength Tester

Establishes how much pressure a board takes before it gives way — the number that decides whether a corrugated box survives a stacked pallet.

  • Tearing Strength Tester

    Tear propagation resistance

    Tearing Strength Tester

Measures how readily a started tear runs. It is what separates a carton that opens where the perforation says from one that opens anywhere.

  • Moisture Tester

    Water content in the substrate

    Moisture Tester

Determines water content in materials. Board outside its moisture window curls on press and misregisters, so every lot is checked before it is scheduled.

  • COBB Tester

    Water absorption of paper

    COBB Tester

Measures water absorption of paper — the predictor of how a substrate will take aqueous coating and how a pack will behave in a cold chain.

  • Stiffness Tester

    Bending resistance

    Stiffness Tester

Assesses bending resistance. A carton needs enough stiffness to stand on a shelf and little enough to fold cleanly on the crease.

  • Tensile Strength Tester

    Breaking load under tension

    Tensile Strength Tester

Assesses how much pull a material takes before failure — checked on every substrate that has to run through a high-speed converting line.

  • Viscosity Tester

    Ink flow characteristics

    Viscosity Tester

Measures ink flow characteristics. Ink outside its viscosity band changes density mid-run, which is exactly the drift the closed-loop system is there to prevent.

  • X-Rite Spectrophotometer

    Colour, by measurement

    X-Rite Spectrophotometer

Provides precise, consistent and reliable sample measurement. Colour is signed off against a number, not against an opinion in a lightbox.

  • Carton Board Creaser

    Crease and fold quality

    Carton Board Creaser

Creases a sample under controlled pressure so the fold can be judged before a die is cut. A board that cracks along the crease has failed regardless of how well it printed.

Ask us for the numbers

Delta-E targets, bursting strength, defect rates — we would rather quote you a measurement than an adjective.
